Client: Modern Bride Magazine
I did this image a long time ago for the Modern Bride magazine. The article was about brides who had revealing tattoos. To keep things subtle, I just added a little red heart on her chest because I didn’t really want anything too gaudy or over-the-top.

Lovers
Client: Utne Magazine
This image depicts a happy couple in love. It was supposed to be “too good” and “too perfect”—the unobtainable couple. I tried to make everything 100% right with this couple; however, the icons around them denote that things are not so great.

Lady in Pink
Client: Women's Health and Fitness Magazine
This image sparked a bit of controversy between the art director and me. The art director wanted a “lady in waiting,” meaning waiting for a guy to date. I drew the woman relaxing in her lounge chair, casually waiting on a guy. The art director interpreted it as the girl being “easy.”

Horoscopes are one of my favorite things to illustrate; I would be happy drawing them and nothing else. For this illustration, the art director wanted something whimsical, light and airy. I decided to draw an angel since the article was about finding your guardian angel.

Dueling Couples

I’d be lying if I said this was the only image I’d ever done where a woman and man are fighting (and the woman is clobbering the man). Frequently, art directors request an illustration of couples fighting and out of the ones I’ve drawn, this is my favorite.
