This illustration represents a guy who made too many promises that he couldn’t keep.  He promised his son that he could have a cell phone while promising his wife he wouldn’t get him one.  Now he’s in a conundrum.  The Wall Street Journal usually gives me roughly 24-48 hours to complete an image so I always have to move fast.
